Spring is in the air!

studioartbuildingMidterm time is upon us, and students are incredibly busy in classes, and the Studio Art majors are starting to really get their Senior Exhibition figured out.

Meanwhile, our new building continues to rise. The roof is looking incredible, and the rooms are now beginning to look like interior spaces. For the construction crew, it’s always midterms!  It’s incredible to look at this construction site and imagine how it will be to occupy the space in Fall, 2014.

Arts building progress

form-work-for-basement-studio-artEveryone is super excited to see the long process of design finally hit dirt.  wHY architects and Hamilton Construction are doing a great job making real the program that faculty and students have shaped… a great building that embodies the thinking and creativity of the arts, a building that has space to teach and to make art and a building that becomes a place that people from different disciplines come together.  Photos by TJ Mills of Hamilton Construction…

Elemental

Spiral JettyThrough an Elemental Arts grant from the Mellon foundation the art faculty and the senior art majors took a trip to the spiral jetty – made by Robert Smithson in the early 70′s.  AMAZING!
